Blizzard has added a new adventure to its award-winning Hearthstone — and let’s say it right away: it’s a lot of fun. A Night in Karazhan takes players to the opulent party thrown by Archmage Medivh, with a playful atmosphere and fresh, original game mechanics.
What Is Hearthstone
For anyone not familiar, Hearthstone is the online collectible card game created by Blizzard, set in the Warcraft universe. Unlike the studio’s main titles, it’s free-to-play with purchasable content — a model that works because the quality of the base game is excellent. The cards represent heroes, spells and minions from Warcraft lore and face off in 1v1 duels where strategy and a dash of luck combine in matches that are never the same twice.
Adventures: A Format All Its Own
Adventures are single-content (non-competitive) expansions in which the player faces characters from Hearthstone lore as bosses, with special mechanics different from standard gameplay. Completing them unlocks exclusive cards and provides hours of content even for less competitive players. Each adventure is set in an iconic location from the Warcraft universe with a dedicated aesthetic and soundtrack.
A Night in Karazhan: Azeroth’s Most Exclusive Party
This time we’re at Karazhan, Archmage Medivh’s tower-home, where he’s thrown a lavish, super-exclusive party with an atmosphere straight out of the 1970s. The problem? Prince Malchezaar, furious at not having been invited, decides to do everything possible to ruin it. It will be Medivh’s job to keep him out — and the player is his ally.
The setting is as fun and whimsical as Blizzard tradition demands: dance music, eccentric guests, themed decks. The adventure unfolds across multiple “floors” of the tower, each with its own boss and special rules. Blizzard once again confirms its ability to keep its titles alive with high-quality additional content.
