Taking advantage of the (TOO MUCH) time stuck at home during the Covid emergency, I developed Movie Mania! for Android, a new app on the same theme as the Movie Library Manager for Windows — but with a completely different approach, designed for smartphones.

A New Concept: Ready-Made Reports

If there are a hundred apps that let you search for films and TV series, what could be the added value? I’ve always found rankings useful — not because they’re exhaustive, but they’re a good starting point. Sometimes the most unexpected gems are found where nobody looks… but you have to start somewhere.

From this idea came Movie Mania!: an app where you don’t have to do searches (though of course you can) — the searches are already done in the form of ready-made reports based on a central archive. Inside Movie Mania you can find, for example, the best Hollywood films of the Golden Age, the best westerns of the 1970s, the best musicals of the 1990s… and so on.

Want to explore a genre you’ve never tried? There’s probably a ready-made report to start from. You can also do free searches and build your own watchlist — but the lists are already there, just waiting to be consulted.

Availability and Price

Movie Mania! is available for Android at a symbolic price. As with the previous app: no in-app advertising and no additional components with extra costs. A few pennies and the app is completely yours.

Writing software has a cost. Publishing on stores has a cost, however small, and the time dedicated to development has its value. The mobile software economy today imposes very low prices — but a euro or so won’t hurt you, and it funds future development. 😊
